A Fun Night with a Big Impact

Every year on World Polio Day, Rotary members across the globe unite to raise awareness and funds to end polio once and for all. Thanks to Rotary International, the World Health Organization, and partners like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we’ve reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide. But our work isn’t done. Until this disease is fully eradicated, every child remains at risk.

This year, the seven Rotary Clubs of Frederick County are teaming up for a creative, community-driven event that blends fun, friendly competition, and service to a global cause.

🎃 Frederick County Rotary World Polio Day Event

📅 Date: Tuesday, October 21
🕔 Time: 5:00 – 7:30 pm (pumpkin contest judging at 7:00 pm)
📍 Location: Rockwell Brewery Riverside

Here’s what to expect:

Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Each of the seven Frederick County Rotary Clubs will enter a decorated pumpkin. Voting is done with dollars, and every dollar raised supports Rotary International’s PolioPlus Fund. The pumpkin with the most “votes” wins bragging rights for their club!
Welcome & Sign-In Table: Check in by club for make-up credit.
50/50 Raffle: Purchase tickets at sign-in for a chance to win.
Family Fun: A kids’ decorating table, including mini pumpkins, so the little ones can join in too.
Food & Drinks: Drinks will be available for purchase from Rockwell Brewery, with food trucks on-site for dinner options. Ice cream pints will also be for sale.

At the end of the night, all proceeds from pumpkin voting and raffles will be combined and donated as one check from Frederick County Rotary to the PolioPlus Fund. Together, we’ll be supporting the global effort to finally eradicate this devastating disease.

Polio remains endemic in just a few countries, but it can easily spread if we let down our guard. Vaccination campaigns and awareness efforts are vital to ensuring children everywhere grow up safe and healthy. Rotary has been at the forefront of this fight for decades—and your support brings us one step closer to a polio-free world.
