Earlier this week, Key City Rotary joined forces with fellow Rotary clubs from the Frederick area for a service project that perfectly reflects the heart of Rotary: working together to make a difference. The goal was simple yet meaningful—collect donation items for organizations that serve some of the most vulnerable in our community, including SHIP of Frederick County, The Frederick Rescue Mission, Project Linus: Frederick County, Maryland, and several local nursing homes.
What made this effort so special wasn’t just the impact it created—it was the spirit of collaboration behind it. Rotarians, along with friends and family, gathered with a shared purpose: to give back. Conversations flowed as easily as the work did, with laughter and stories exchanged between sorting, packing, and organizing donations. These moments of connection remind us that service is more than an act of giving—it’s an opportunity to build lasting friendships and strengthen bonds within our community.
Every item collected carried with it the intention of care, whether it was a warm blanket for a child through Project Linus, essentials for a student in need via SHIP, or comfort items for nursing home residents. Together, we ensured that these organizations can continue their vital work—and we left with something just as valuable: the joy of serving side by side.
At Key City Rotary, we believe service and fellowship go hand in hand. Projects like this bring people together in a way
that’s both impactful and deeply rewarding. When we combine our time, talents, and hearts for others, we create ripples of kindness that reach far beyond what any one of us could accomplish alone.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Together, we’re proving that friendship and service truly make the world—and Frederick—a better place.
