Rotary in Action: Serving the Community at Mission of Mercy

In May 2025, members of Key City Rotary Club came together with fellow Rotary clubs from the Frederick area for a day of service that truly embodied Rotary’s mission: “Service Above Self.” Volunteers joined forces at a Mission of Mercy food distribution event, working side by side to provide essential support for families in need.

Mission of Mercy plays a vital role in Frederick, offering free healthcare and food assistance to those who might otherwise go without. By partnering with this organization, Rotary members were able to extend their reach and amplify their impact.

From organizing food supplies to distributing groceries, Rotarians worked with smiles, compassion, and a shared sense of purpose. For many volunteers, the highlight of the day was interacting directly with individuals and families, offering not just food but a warm greeting and reassurance that their community cares about them.

Events like this demonstrate the unique power of Rotary service. It’s not just about writing checks or attending meetings—it’s about rolling up our sleeves and being present where we are needed most. The success of this food distribution effort speaks volumes about what happens when service-minded people work together. Dozens of families left with the essentials they needed to get through the week, and the volunteers left with full hearts, knowing their time and effort mattered.

At its core, Rotary is about building stronger communities through hands-on impact. The May event with Mission of Mercy was a shining example of that commitment—and a promise that Rotary will continue to be a force for good in Frederick.
